I was very disappointed with my recent experience. As a patient with heart disease, regular dental care is critical to my overall health. Unfortunately, I was refused a simple cleaning unless I agreed to a $3,600 periodontal procedure. When I asked for additional consideration given my medical condition, I was still denied. Refusing basic preventative care is not only unreasonable but can also be detrimental to a patient’s health, especially for those with underlying conditions. Dental offices should prioritize patient well-being, not just costly treatment plans. I cannot recommend this practice to anyone seeking compassionate and patient-focused care.

Usually a great experience every 6 months. The only unpleasant experience was when I had to get a tooth fixed which is my fault not the dentists. Everyone is super friendly and explains the process of what they’re doing.

This was my first time at Smile Design for an eval. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The dentist spent a lot of time explaining options. I learned so much that I thought i could start my own career ;-)

**Bad Experience at Smile Design Dentistry** I had a really frustrating experience at Smile Design Dentistry, and I feel compelled to share it. I initially tried to schedule an appointment for both my wife and I, hoping to get exams and cleanings done together. When I inquired about the possibility of having both services during the same appointment, I was told that wasn’t an option for us to get done together, and that we’d have to come on separate days (in order for me to get an exam and cleaning the same day.) I agreed to this and booked the appointment. However, when I arrived for my exam, they had no record of the cleaning being scheduled and said I’d have to come back for that on another day. To make things worse, they told me it wasn’t their responsibility because I had spoken with call center personnel, which I find absolutely ridiculous. It’s not my fault they use a call center that provides inaccurate information, and I feel like it was their responsibility to ensure proper communication. I also had confirmed the details with Brandy, the office manager, the day before, yet they still failed to follow up with me regarding my insurance eligibility, as I had requested. The lack of follow-through was really frustrating. In addition, prior to my appointment I confirmed with Smile Design Dentistry’s billing expert (Yvette), that the office used billing codes D1206 for fluoride treatment. This is the only billing code my insurance covers 100% for fluoride treatment. However, once at the appointment, Brandy shared a bill showing a full out of pocket cost for fluoride treatment and stated my insurance does not cover this service. This is contrary information provided by their own staff and my insurance, who I confirmed both pieces of information with prior to the appointment. I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST CONFIRMING ANY BILLING WITH THIS OFFICE WITH YOUR INSURANCE BEFORE PAYING. As for the treatment plan they recommended, it seemed overly aggressive. I’m 30 years old, have had very few issues with my teeth, and only three fillings in my life, but they were suggesting I need *seven* fillings right now. I’ve been getting routine cleanings every 6 to 12 months (my last cleaning May 2024), so it felt completely unnecessary and excessive. If you're used to a dentist that only recommends dental work that is absolutely needed, I would not recommend this place. Additionally, the number of X-rays they took was excessive—I counted 18 shots! I’ve been to many other dental offices, due to coverage through military, and I’ve never experienced anything close to this amount of X-rays. I’m not sure if this was due to poor training or just subpar standards at the office, but it was really off-putting. Overall, my experience was disappointing, and I don’t feel like Smile Design Dentistry is a place I can trust for routine dental care.
