If I could leave no stars, I would. I had a very similar experience as the person before me with a very aggressive encounter with the office manager, Carissa. After a pleasant first visit with a new dentist, After relocating to this area I went ahead and scheduled my cleaning and at that point it was my choice of whether I wanted a deep clean Or normal cleaning. Then they had to reschedule my appointment for construction of the office And at that point instead of having time for three appointments, I decided to go back to regular cleaning and The office manager Carissa told me I had gum disease that I can’t be on a normal cleaning routine. She would not allow me to talk to anyone else in the office… The hygienist or the dentist themselves…. Then, After getting my records released, it clearly stated that I will be put on a regular schedule after my one deep cleaning that was my choice. She was very aggressive and rude on the phone so I decided to go in person to see if it would de-escalate and maybe she would be kinder…. That was not the case it ended up with her screaming at me and telling me to leave or she’s calling the police.
It’s very interesting that you guys have another review Mentioning the same events.
Your business is on a slippery slope If you keep Carissa as an employee, you lost me you lost my husband and lost my children that the dentist was interested in as patients. We will never return Because of her.

I went for my cleaning today. As usually they had all new staff except for Vicky who has been the most helpful staff member over the years. I tried to keep an open mind and go with the new people. Everything was going well, and I meet the new dentist. They tried to charge me for the fluoride treatment even though its covered. The real problem started when I tried to Scheule my next cleaning in 6 months. The office Manager I think her name is Carissa informs me that I had to have 3 more clean in this year or they would not continue my cleanings. My insurance only pays for 2 a year so I explain to her that I am the patient, and I only want 2. After a few minutes of a very intense conversation, I Explained that I have had that same cleaning done there for the last 7 years and they have never required me to have 4 cleaning a year. She threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. The new dentist came out and ask if he could help and Office Manager Carissa came back up to the counter and told us both that this is her office, and she run the way she wants and she would not schedule my cleaning unless I did 3 more this year. Needless to say, I WILL NOT BE RETURNING!

Called to schedule an appointment because my daughter had a problem. When I got there, the assistant behind the counter was nasty to us both and then said that they scheduled my daughter for a cleaning. When I told her that was not what I called about she said "well that's what's on the schedule so that's what we are doing." Was very nasty about it and ultimately we left because my daughter didn't feel comfortable with the staff. We were then charged as a no call no show. 2nd office in this group that we are staying away from. Looking for a new dentist NOT in this group.

Dentist offices really need to get their communication better. After three calls to smile by design prior to my hubby even going for the first time, I insured everything was covered at 100%. I even stated that if anything was not, we did not want those services. My hubby went in, started filling out the paperwork and it was totally different price than what the 3 ladies told me on the phone. He left. I called back. I spoke with Vicki. I stated that I spoke with three different people. They all stated that x-rays and panoramic x-rays were covered at 100%. she rudely said that she’s the one who runs the insurance that couldn’t be, basically calling me a liar. After talking with my hubby, he said that it was going to be something like $60. When I spoke with Vicki, she said no x-rays were performed. He said yes they were. Absolutely ridiculous. Do not recommend. Do not go. Smile by Designs Communication sucks. Allure Dental Boutique 33548 is by far THE BEST in Tampa - unfortunately, they just do not take my hubby‘s insurance. Which I will be changing immediately. Highly recommend them.
